The importance of the Petroleum Club of Houston can be linked to the evolution of the energy industry and the professional community. These dynamic forces continue to perpetuate the growth of Petroleum Club of Houston, which was founded on January 31, 1946. The Club’s original location was on the top floor of the Rice Hotel in downtown Houston. An increased membership initiated the Club’s move to the location on floors 43 and 44 of the ExxonMobil Building in 1963. The sale of the ExxonMobil Building commenced the need for the Petroleum Club to begin its relocation process. On February 20, 2014, Richard Tauber, President, joined by the Board of Directors, answered the call to action by signing the new Club lease for 1201 Louisiana Street, which is located on the top floor of the Total Building. The Petroleum Club of Houston continues to serve the Houston business community as an international destination with elegance and world-class cuisine. Its membership is reflective of professionals in the energy, medical, legal, diplomatic and academic fields.
